Another few weeks have passed, and no we havent stopped. We have gotten a large handful of scenes finished and wrapped up. Some quick recasting and relocation on the spot we have achieved a very close mark to "half way done".
Although that means nothing until the final day.
Upon one of our tasks was to start the mold for Two Face, using a few methods we are slowly crafting the muscles and fibers. Trying to stay close to the long halloween and our idea of him. With that we have started the journey of putting together the scarecrow.
The picture above was a night spent creating the mold for Two Face, it was an hour and a half process to create. If you ask the guy behind it (Film Guru) he'll tell you of the little dirty tricks we played on him, but damn was that dedication to the film. He wasent allowed to talk or laugh, because his movements could ruin the mold from setting in a certain manner. But that dosent mean we didnt try to make him laugh
Teasers are being worked on, posters are being designed. Work is actually getting done.
Each new bit we film I get a little bit more nervous as to how it will all come out. _________________

Let me know if you need any VFX work, i've done some work for Will's Suberboy series as well as SaveTheEmpire's Batman fan film (some of the bullet hit FX shots). Let me know!

That would be great, we have a few scenes with gun fights so we could defiantly use some extra help in the vfx area.
Besides gun fights, we have a hefty amount of fight scenes. Batman will not just be taking on one guy at a time, we have worked it out so that its two to three at a time. And we have been using the KFM style as our guide, so hopefully we can add in some really awesome fights into the mix. _________________

Hey every one. Just wanted to drop by with another small update.
At the moment we are nearing close to our goal, with 65% of filming in the can we will be putting a teaser together today. So expect that in the next week or so.
Along with that, we will be putting up promo shots of our villains and allies. Im really excited to show off our Joker, Black Mask and Killer Croc! _________________

Hey, just to update everyone. We are officially wrapped up with filming and are now in the post-production phase. We should hopefully have a trailer out within the next few days. |

Not bad, but in my opinion, it could use a lot more work.
Pros: I dig the idea of dialogue over Bat symbol ala Dark Knight, it was nice to see that you actually put in a quick shot rather than just leave it to be a picture of the Bat symbol. Right idea there. I like the dialogue. (we will talk more about that in the Cons).
Cons: Audio especially, it was really hard to hear what the characters where saying, I had to blast my speakers to get what was going on. The actors should speak louder and more clearly, maybe on the next film try and have them act more casual when they say the lines, seems a little forced. Although, I understand low budget productions, your not going to get Michael Caine here at any point of the film for quality. I am going to pray that the guy in the beanie hat is one of the Jokers thugs and not The Joker himself. Also, Batman didn't look to secretive/stealth like when he is in bright lights on top of whatever he was sittin' on, all it takes if for one criminal to turn his head to sneeze or crack his neck or even just peek around and BAM Batman is right there. No surprise anymore.
Maybe this was just not the best teaser put together but that doesn't discourage me from the film until I see an actual trailer where you can guess-timate most of the quality of the film when you see more story, plot, acting etc. So Im holdin' my breath for you guys and wishing you luck on the project. |

The promo pictures look awesome. Harley Quinn looks scary, and the shot in the barn is really cool.
The teaser had its flaws like Omar said. You could definitely benefit from turning down the song, to let us hear the actors a little better. Is that an original song by the way? I liked it. And I know you guys are probably just recording audio through the onboard camera mic (which we all do at some point early on, as we did with "Dark Tomorrow"), but just a recommendation for future projects, get a shotgun mic and boom pole. It will make a world of difference. They say 70% of your film experience is what you hear, and I fully believe that. We've got the Rode VideoMic and Rode Boom Pole ($150 each, so a $300 investment), which is a great way to start out in more professional audio. Anyways, I'm sidetracked!
I also agree that she shot of Batman jumping down at the end is a good idea, but poorly executed. Here's why. You should never show Batman in full frame like that, if the point is that he's hiding from the thugs. You want to keep him mysterious, to make the audience feel more like one of the criminals, who don't know where he is. The key here is quick, dark, and close up shots of him. That way you know he is lurking, but he doesn't just look like an idiot in the background. As Omar said, it comes off as silly, because when you show the whole frame like that, the audience realizes that the thugs can easily see him with the turn of their head. Think about Batman's first appearance in Batman Begins, where he seems to be everywhere. He's rarely shown til the end money shot.
Anyways, I do think this project looks cool, and I can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone for the comments. We will try to consider everything, especially in future projects. We really are doing this just to see how we all work together(we've never really worked together before on a big project like this) and see if we are capable of working on future projects together. The next projects we would like to use higher end equipment, and work on some original projects we have been working on since production has ended. But we will keep you all posted on the progress of The Gotham Crusade. Thanks. _________________ Atomic Horizons Unite! |
