Hey guys,

Well, this thread has been a long time coming. Some of you may remember, when we (Save The Empire) finished our fan film "Batman Dark Tomorrow" in 2008, we talked about going into production on our next project, a feature comedy about rollerblading... well, we did. Long (very long) story short, we are FINALLY about to wrap! We obviously thought we'd be done much sooner, but between most of us graduating college, getting engaged/married, moving to different cities around Texas, and staying busy on other film projects, "Wild in the Streets" has dragged out. And this weekend, we will wrap production.

The story is about a group of guys who have a run in with a rival rollerblading gang. It's a revisit to cliche extreme sports movies of the 80's and 90's (Think "Airborne", "Thrashin", even "The Karate Kid"... but on rollerblades).

The screenplay is 105 pages, but the film will probably be closer to around 80 minutes. It's a satiric comedy, but with lots of action. I've posted a handful of production pictures below from the last 3 years. Amazingly, no one in our cast has changed in appearance too much, which is a huge risk you run when shooting a movie off and on like this.

This weekend we will all be heading back to our hometown to finish up over a 3 day shoot and finally have our much anticipated wrap party. Until then, wish us luck! Trailer coming soon...

Scott

Hahaha thanks man! Can't wait to get the actual trailer up for you guys. Chances are whatever you saw back then was something that didn't even end up being used in the movie. (I think you're referring to a promo we shot for fun, before we even had a script).

We'll try to post pictures throughout the weekend. If you're on Facebook and Twitter, "Like" us at www.facebook.com/steproductions and follow @savetheempire, for quicker updates. Thanks again for checking it out!

Thanks Milton! And Reptile, it wasn't fake blood if that answers your question, haha. The movie has a lot of rollerblading action in it, so there were quite a few busts along the way. I need to edit together a bust montage.

And by the way everyone, WE WRAPPED THIS WEEKEND! It feels amazing to have this project done. Of course I'll be in the editing room for a while, but we have the entire 105 page script shot and captured. Feels pretty good. I'll post some pictures from our wrap weekend/party here pretty soon.

A few days late, but here are pictures from our big "Wild in the Streets" wrap weekend! (When have we ever finished anything on time?) Includes pictures from production and the wrap party that Saturday night. (Click to view full size)

Part of a huge action scene at the Skate Park. We've shot out here at least 15 or 20 times. It's been 20 degrees and it's been 100 degrees. We've had some nights where it was very easy, and others with constant interruptions from other skaters and cops, neither of whom care that we are making a movie. Our last night out there had both unwanted parties and we got kicked out, but luckily had all of our shots done by then.

Setting up for a pick up shot of the 3 main characters at a backyard party. This is to be put in with a larger party sequence shot over 2 years ago. Luckily we all still look the same.

At the party...

We filmed part of the race in this familiar parking garage.

For those that remember, we shot a fight scene from our fan film "Batman Dark Tomorrow" (2008) in this same garage:

There is a security guard that liked to kick us out so to complete the scene in "Dark Tomorrow", we'd have a look out downstairs and he'd alert us when the guard was driving up, so we could hide in a closet... And once again, we found ourselves hiding in the same closet while he made his rounds, so that we could finish our shoot. Funny how history repeats itself.

This was the very last shot of the entire 3 year shoot (not a continuous shoot of course). The 3 main characters walking out of their garage, and to the climactic race.

We needed 2 more angles of us walking out... and the garage door over heated. Spent about 10 minutes trying to fix it.

A dog wandered in while we were waiting... We eventually moved the shot over to the other garage door so that we could get the shot and call wrap. The angle wasn't quite as cool, but we got what we needed and officially said "That's a wrap on WITS!"

What my rollerblades looked like after 3 years of shooting, and not changing the wheels out. No wonder I fall so much.

The wrap party began right after we finished shooting.

Complete with a WITS cake of course.

With most of the cast/crew/close friends and family, we all watched some old Save The Empire favorites, the trailer for WITS, a few edited scenes, and a behind the scenes/outtakes. Felt good to finally watch some of this stuff with audience response (even if just from the cast and our family who were going to love it anyway!)

About 2 years ago, to keep track of production, I made these 3 bulletin boards. Each card is a different scene. The yellow post it note means the scene is done. Sunday night, we finally put the last post it on the last empty card. That's a wrap on "Wild in the Streets!"

Hey guys! Well, here we are, some 6 months after we wrapped, and we finally have a trailer cut! It will be online tomorrow. I have a large chunk of the movie edited, but unfortunately haven't been able to work on it much in the last few months. That will change soon, but in the mean time enjoy some photos/screen shots and be sure to check back tomorrow for the trailer.

Awesome. I'm loving the 80s vibe - like a modern day Meatballs or Better Off Dead but with roller skates.

How long is the finished movie? Because honestly, I could probably dig a whole 90 minutes of it if it's as funny as the trailer.
