I've had a couple of e-mails recently regarding updates on the film, and I'm afraid it's bad news - the project's been canned.

Basically, the film wasn't prepared enough when we began shooting, which made the whole shooting schedule drag out for so long. The casting was not completed before production, the script, in particular, I felt was never up to scratch.

Behind the scenes, the script was being constantly re-written even while the film was being shot. Characters were dropped new scenes added. Some scenes were excellent while others were sloppy and rushed. In the end, the shooting schedule was so far apart that the early footage didn't match the later, sound levels were screwed up, bits of footage gone missing.

In the end, by last Fall, we all decided it would be best to step away from the project, take a break and do some original projects.

This idea turned out to be fantastic, since August we've completed a hell of a lot of projects, mostly comedy including a highly successful six part mockumentary series called "Big Clock" which we're hoping to pitch to TV.

Ultimately when we returned to "The Fall", spirits were down and we decided to leave what we'd filmed and call it day. Sure, we'd shot a lot of footage and I'm not saying I'm not disappointed that the film's been canned but it was becoming something of a millstone around my neck and was making me pretty depressed.

In the end, the rough edit of the film wasn't what I had hoped. The cast and crew thank you for your support and are very sorry for all the fans hoping to see the film.

P.S. Haven't been around much, will try and stick around the forum some more. I'm really impressed with some of the new films added to the website, looking forward to seeing some new blood.

Perhaps from what you've shot so far, pull some clips enough to get a short film out?

Still debating what we're going to do with the old footage. A new website for my original projects will be up in a couple of months. I'll keep you posted.

I know what you can do with the footage; post it all online anyway as mini-scenes, then anyone who sees them can feel bad for you that you couldn't finish the movie. A lot of people wanted to see this, so I think you should let them see SOMETHING at least, even if it ultimately doesn't make any kind of continuous sense. :p

I think I'd rather leave the footage behind for now. I'm pretty picky about my work, I don't think I'll be editing the footage into a disjointed short. Another extended trailer perhaps, of what could have been?

For now, though I'm focusing on original stuff.

Hey there, it's a shame that this project has been canned. I was looking forward to seeing your film, especially after seeing the teaser and other footage a while back.

In any event, I'm with the others who hope that you do show what you were able to accomplish. A lot of us were eager to see what you could do with thiis concept and it would be a shame to not at least see what might have been.

Good luck with your upcoming projects as well.

Oh no no no no! Do NOT make a trailer.....

Make a memorial! Take what footage you have, and film a quick intro where you address your would-be audience, and give them a little back story as to what this movie was, where it was going, and why it stopped. Then conclude with a short montage of your best footage, undrscored with quiet, soothing, melancholic piano music.

Fall of Bruce Wayne

That's too bad about your project Judge Rico. But in the end your are your toughest critic, and you know best. Good Luck with other projects in the future, and I hope you do another Batman fan film down the road

I sorry everyone's gutted the film's not coming out but believe me no one's more gutted than me, I put a hell of a lot of time into the project.

As for another fan film, not just now, but then again never say never....

I was really looking forward to the film as much as you and others would. But I can see were you are coming from at my angle.

I would be very happy for you to cut a pretty long trailer of your work so far, like the preivewous ones.

I am wishing for the best for your upcoming projects, and hope your next films will be great.

Darn.I was looking forward to it,Judge. Sad

But,I understand where you're coming from.Well, sort of.War On Crime is dead, now, but you actually got past the point of shooting, whereas we dropped WOC during pre-production.

Anyway,I found it to be much easier and much better to not limit myself to just one project, and as a result,I feel I've become a better writer than I was during WOC.I'm much more focused now that I'm not commiting myself to one lone project, and now I've got some really good ideas for others,I feel.

Anyway,Best of luck with your other projects. From what I got out of TFOBW,and your posts here, you're an excellent filmmaker, and I'm sure anything you've made/will make will be awesome.

Cheers. Cool

Hell--I've been out of the loop from the forum, but this is one I've been looking forward to for a long time. Sad

Oh well. And about script stuff, I'm just leaving an offer on the table, but if you ever decide to come back to this right and need script help, I'm a fairly good screenwriter. Smile

Don't feel bad, I was a late-comer to this one as well. It's a bummer. I really dig Rico's style.
